Reviews
Must Dash Amigos is a fighting game from above in the same vein as Mario Kart, where players compete in races and battles in an arena. The races consist of running on dangerous courses, collecting and using bonuses and weapons along the way. Brawl-style battles take place in arenas, again with bonuses and weapons, with the goal being to be the last one alive or to score the most points when time runs out. The art style of Must Dash Amigos is fun and cartoony, with a choice of wacky characters such as the bug-eyed La Luchadora or the snowman.
Must Dash Amigos isn’t like other racing games that are typically based on a vehicle. Instead, the four playable characters race around the track on their own feet – or in the case of Chompster, on their feet and knuckles. Another major difference is the camera angle, which has been raised to a top-down perspective, allowing a bird’s-eye view of the racetrack. Each character moves with enough speed and precision to keep the running smooth and not lose control in tight turns.
The presentation of Must Dash Amigos is lively, if simplistic. The characters and environments aren’t overly detailed, but this allows for snappy gameplay response and an impressively stable frame rate. Must Dash Amigos is a great game, but its limited content detracts from its overall longevity.
